Hyms of Intercession to our Lord Jesus Christ

Sweetest Jesus, the Light of the world! O Son of God, enlighten the eyes of my soul by your divine brightness that I may praise You, the never-setting Light!

Sweetest Jesus, the joy of my soul! Jesus, the cleansing of my mind! O Jesus, save me, most merciful Lord. Jesus, my Savior, my almighty Jesus, leave me not! O Jesus, my Savior, have mercy on me and deliver me from all perdition, Jesus, and grant me the portion of the saved ones, Jesus. Place me in the ranks of Your chosen ones, O Jesus, Lover of Mankind!

Sweetest Jesus, the glory of the Apostles, my Jesus1 The boast of the Martyrs, mighty Lord! Jesus, save me, Jesus my Savior, my most beautiful Jesus, have mercy on me as I come to You, through the intercessions of her who bore You, Jesus, of all Your Saints, all the Prophets, my Savior Jesus, and grant me the delight of Paradise, O Jesus Lover of Mankind!

Sweetest Jesus, the glory of the Monastics! The delight and adornment of the Ascetics, Jesus, save me! Jesus my Savior, my all-kind Jesus, deliver me, Savior Jesus, from the hand of the dragon, and set me free from his snares, Savior Jesus! Lift me up, O Jesus Savior, from the lower abyss, and number me, O Jesus, among the sheep on Your right hand, O Jesus!

Sweetest Jesus Christ, long-suffering Jesus! Sweeten my heart, I pray, O merciful Jesus, so that in being saved I may magnify You, O my Savior Jesus!

Sweetest Jesus Christ, open unto me the gates of repentance and receive me, O Jesus, as I fall down before You and fervently bog of You, my Savior Jesus, the forgiveness of my transgressions.

Sweetest Jesus Christ, deliver me, O Jesus from the hand of the deceitful Belial, and make me, Jesus, to stand at the right hand of Your Glory, Jesus my Savior, as I become delivered from the portion on Your left hand!

This would be a wonderful prayer before the crucifix or before the Holy Shroud on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. May all our prayer be so heartfelt and personal! Fr. John
