Rev. Emil J. Mihalik

Fr. Emil Mihalik was ordained on September 21, 1945 at St. Mary's Church in Trenton, N. J. From February 1, 1961 to June 12, 1969 he served as pastor of our parish. During his pastorate much progress was made. Our parish patron was changed from St. John the Baptist to St. Thomas the Apostle. Our parish was moved from its location on Irving Street in downtown Rahway to St. George Avenue.

Our parish church and parish center was built and dedicated under Fr. Emil's leadership. His gentle and loving pastoral care for all our parishioners and his challenges to grow were true blessings. His pastorate marked our parish life for generations to come.

On June 12, 1969 Fr. Emil became the first eparch of the newly created Eparchy of Parma and served as bishop of Parma until his death on January 27, 1984. In blessed repose grant eternal repose to your servant Eparch Emil and remember him forever.
During this our 90th anniversary year may we remember all the priests who served our parish and dedicated themselves to the pastoral care of our parishioners.
